Discipline Guides

A real discipline is built, not stumbled into. That’s what these guides are for.

Each discipline guide is a structured, self-directed journey into Christian meditation: a sequence of short sessions, grounded in Scripture, that walks you through the actual practice of giving God your attention. You work at your own pace, alone or in your own rhythm, with clear direction at every step. These are not devotionals to read. They are guides to do.

The guides come in two forms: a core track of sequential guides for building a practice from the ground up, and standalone guides on specific topics and seasons that can be picked up anytime. Both are being written and released as I finish them.

The Core Track

A sequential path designed to build a meditation practice from the ground up. Each guide in the track builds on what came before. If you are new to meditation as a distinct discipline, or if you have been trying and drifting for years and want to start over with something sturdier, this is where to begin.

The core track is under construction. I’m building it carefully, session by session, because the sequence matters. When it is ready, it will be the front door of this project.

Standalone Guides

Self-contained guides on specific topics, seasons, or spiritual needs. You can pick any of these up without having done the core track. They are shorter in scope, aimed at a specific place you might find yourself in: dry, grieving, returning after a long absence, meditating through a particular book of the Bible.

What You’ll Need

Very little, honestly. A Bible. A notebook or journal. A quiet place. A timer. Willingness. That is the entire kit.

You will not need an app, a subscription, a program, or a plan to optimize your life. These guides are built to train a discipline, not sell you a transformation.

How to Use These Guides

Each guide tells you up front how many sessions it contains, how long each session takes, and how many sessions per week is a reasonable rhythm. None of it is a demand. Go slower if you need to. Take a week off if life requires it, and come back. The discipline is built in the returning, not in unbroken streaks.

If you are new to meditation, start with the core track when it is available. If you have a practice already but want focused work on a specific topic or season, a standalone guide is the right place. If you are unsure where to begin, What Is Meditation will orient you first.

The guides will go live as I finish them. The newsletter is the best way to hear when each one is ready.
