Meditation & the Brain · 15 min

Does Meditating on Scripture Rewire Your Brain?

Prefer YouTube? Watch it there.

Your brain physically remakes itself around whatever you give sustained attention to. That’s neuroplasticity, and it’s measured, not hype. So when you meditate on Scripture, turning a verse over morning after morning, you are shaping your brain around the Word of God. But the rewired brain was only ever the doorway. What it opens onto—communion with the living God—is the room. I can tell you that with certainty, because mine got rewired years before I followed Christ, through Eastern meditation, and it left me starving until I met Him.

What's Covered

  • Neuroplasticity in plain English (and why it means meditation really changes you)
  • What Andrew Newberg's brain scans of praying believers actually found
  • What biblical meditation is—the simple version, minus the mysticism
  • Why the brain change is the doorway, not the destination
